Cost per stop by route
These are the real steps, without the 40-page tutorial. Tick them off as you go. If it starts looking like a weekend project, that's normal, and that's what I'm for.
It's free from the Microsoft Store. This is where you build; the online version is mostly for sharing.
You need one to publish and share.
Heads up: a personal Gmail or Outlook address won't work here.
Get Data β pick Excel, CSV, SharePoint or a database, then choose the tables you need.
Fix data types, remove blank rows, merge tables. This is usually where most of the time goes.
Link your tables, add a date table, and write DAX measures like Total Sales or Month-over-Month.
Heads up: DAX looks like Excel formulas. It doesn't behave like them.
KPI cards on top, trends in the middle, details below. One question per page.
Publish to the Power BI Service and set it to refresh on its own. Local files may need a data gateway, and sharing usually needs Pro licenses.
I'll do it for you, starting at $350.
Every click, filter, copy and paste. If you can't write it down, a macro can't do it.
File β Options β Customize Ribbon β check Developer.
Hit Record Macro, do the task once, hit Stop. Excel writes the VBA code for you.
Open the editor (Alt + F11). Recorded code hard-codes every cell, so swap those for loops, variables and "find the last row" logic.
Heads up: this step is where recorded macros usually fall apart.
Empty files, an extra column, a renamed sheet. Add error handling so it fails politely instead of wrecking your data.
Save it as a macro-enabled workbook and assign the macro to a button.
Heads up: Windows blocks macros in files downloaded or emailed, so you may need to unblock the file first.
Run it on last week's file and this week's. Compare the results by hand once.
I'll do it for you, starting at $150.
Seriously. Name it something you'll recognize.
Data β From Table/Range. Every fix you make is recorded, so you can replay it next month.
Trim spaces, fix capitalization, set the right types for dates and numbers.
"NY", "N.Y." and "new york" are one thing. Use a lookup table to map them all to one name.
Decide what counts as a duplicate first. Same customer and same date? Same invoice number?
Heads up: removing the wrong "duplicates" quietly deletes real sales.
Split combined columns and unpivot month-by-month layouts so every row is one thing.
Close & Load. Next month, drop in the new file and refresh.
I'll do it for you, starting at $100.
Move the sliders. It's just math on your own numbers, and nothing gets saved or sent.
You tell me what's slowing you down. I fix it and show you how it works.
